During the WASL weeks our specialists schedules will be changed to facilitate the testing as much as possible. We will have more information later about what schedules will look like on testing days after we receive our Directions for Administration from OSPI (Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction).
It is very important that students be in attendance all day, everyday, especially on testing days. We must start on time, if a child is tardy they will miss the testing that day and have to attend a make-up session.
In the past we have provided certain snacks to the students during the testing days. I limit the snacks to apple juice, cinnamon graham crackers sticks, peppermints, and dark chocolates stars (Brachs). If you would like to help me provide some of these snacks please let me know. Of course, students may continue to bring a fruit or vegetable to have during snack time as well. I do not allow students to chew gum during the test as some testing experts have suggested. During my experience as a WASL scoring supervisor I found out that the test scanning equipment can get jammed due to a piece of gum accidently landing inside a test booklet.
