Lifeskill
In October, we have been focusing on the life-skill of work ethic. Learning about life-skills and practicing them promotes positive learning conditions.
Parent/Student Handbook
Please make sure to read the school’s student handbook online and fill out the form to document that you and your student have read it. To access the student handbook, go to the Fisher’s Landing Elementary website and click on the “For Parents” tab. Here is a direct link: http://schools.evergreenps.org/201420917163720550/site/default.asp .Click on “Student Handbook.” Make sure to read through the handbook and discuss it with your child. Please print the “Handbook Signature Form” then you and your child should sign it to verify that you and child have read the handbook. If you do not have access to a computer, contact the school office and they will provide you with a copy of the handbook and the form to be signed. All students are expected to knowledgeable about the handbook and its contents. Please send these forms in as soon as you can.
Conditions for Learning
Students continue to learn and master new routines and expectations especially with regard to working together in learning teams. They will engage in discourse to learn from each other and therefore increase their own learning. Throughout all curricular areas students will be engaged in thinking strategies such as visualization, and determining importance.
Math
We have been developing/practicing concepts for multiplication and division, and building problem solving skills.
Science
The students have been using the scientific process to investigate water and its properties.
Social Studies
We are learning about Washington State this year. In October we were learning about time lines so that we may apply this concept to events in Washington history.
Health
Human Growth and Development will be taught the week of 10.25 -10.30.
Observations:
Many are still struggling to ensure that the quality of their products and effort expended is high. Please encourage your child to do their personal best in all their school work. Please encourage your child to use correct spelling and punctuation in all subject areas. I also appreciate your efforts to help your child complete all his/her homework on time.
Conferences
I look forward to meeting with you this week.
