WASL Information Night

The 4th grade team held the WASL Information Night on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 in the library. If you were unable to attend, I have posted the PowerPoint presentation that was shared, here on THE STAR.

We also referred to some WASL released items to give parents a feel for what kinds of items their children will see on this year's WASL. Some of these we use in class to help the students gain more confidence in dealing with these kinds of standardized test questions.

In addition to the "What Parents Can Do" portion of the slideshow, we shared some specific questions that parents may want to use from time to time when their children are working on their math homework.

• What's your answer?
• How did you get that?
• Why did you do that?
• What gave you that idea?
• How do you know you are right?
• What is it you are being asked to do?
• What is the learning involved here?
• What do you know that you can use on this?
• What strategy would be appropriate?
• Did you show/explain your thinking?
• Did you check/verify that you answered the question?
